How do photographers get inspired by other photographers?

I started collecting pictures of Madonna when I was eight years old. That was back in the eighties. She has collaborated with many fashion photographers and created iconic pictures that still fascinates me. My favourite photographer is Herb Ritts. Among many beautiful pictures he has taken, is the cover shot of Madonna’s classic True Blue album from 1986. I have pictures like this in the back of my head when I photograph artist. It is fun to try and recreate iconic photos. And I think that I have captured Aurora Aksnes in a Madonna pose.

What do you think?
